Foreigners

I am an Indian
She is from Canada

I work in a multinational bank
She teaches Bharatanatyam to children

I love action movies and iPad games
She plays Indian classical music all day long

I am into gymming, I love to work out my body
She does yoga, says it helps her feel her body

I stay connected 24x7 and hate that she doesn't keep a mobile
She smiles and says meditation keeps her connected

I shrug
She smiles

We are foreigners
We love each other.

Another version...

I am an Indian
She is from Canada

I work in a multinational bank
She teaches Bharatanatyam to children

I love action movies and iPad games
She plays Indian classical music all day long

I am into gymming, I love to work out my body
She does yoga, says it helps her feel her body

I stay connected 24x7
and hate she doesn't keep a mobile

She says meditation keeps her connected
and bows in front of the temple

I sigh and say I'll wait outside
A seer waves his forefinger from top of the stairs:
Foreigners not allowed

I shrug
She smiles

We love each other
We are foreigners.

Rishi chetta, nice one. I liked the second version.
The foreigner being more spiritually connected, in comparison to The seer, who is reduced to a disconnected service provider of GOD is more appealing.

It's cool both the versions, but I personally liked the 2nd version...the foreigner is connected to God while the other isn't...indeed 'Foreigners'...way to go...;)

I drink Bacardi
She drinks Lassi

I dream of freeways
She waits for autos

I wear Levis,
and tread gracefully

She wears a sari,
and struts like a man, unknowingly

I have a maid,
and pay her as best as I can

She turns away maids looking for work,
because, 'really, no one should be a maid',
and gives her money to dog shelters

She says no to PPP in education
but her daughter goes to an IB school

She smiles at the watchman and the neighbours
but would look to call 911 if she, or they, need help

She hates America, 'the place is so alienating';
tries hard to love India, but it is 'soo inefficient'

But then, when everything is perfectly predictable and in control,
people are not needed, and faceless 911s solve everything.

So you snicker and try to appreciate the inefficiency, thinking it makes people look out for each other, and thus help stave off dat big bad alie-nation

Then one day go to her room, and she is playing 'Apne liye jiye tho kya jiye'...

We are foreigners
and never the twain shall meet

I like the first version, becos it has no religion. And the anonymous parody writer was so complicated at the end. I could not understand anything...........
